A significant controversy has erupted recently involving veteran Telugu actor Rajendra Prasad due to comments he made about the legendary Tamil actor and former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran (MGR).
The "Wet His Pants" Remark
The primary controversy began around March 10–12, 2026, during the Kala Prapoorna Kantha Rao National Award ceremony in Hyderabad. While praising the stardom and acting prowess of the late Telugu actor Tadepalli Lakshmi Kantha Rao, Rajendra Prasad made a comparison that was widely viewed as derogatory toward MGR
What he said: He claimed that even MGR used to "wet his pants" (or was deeply intimidated) when seeing the craze and box-office performance of Kantha Rao's folklore films.
The Reaction: His choice of words sparked immediate outrage, particularly in Tamil Nadu. Many felt it was unnecessary to demean a "demigod" figure like MGR while honoring another legend.
Backlash from the Film Industry
Prominent members of the Tamil film industry and the Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes' Association) have condemned the remarks:
Actor Vishal: Expressed that the comments were "shocking and repelling." He noted that while praising Kantha Rao was a "lovely gesture," bringing down MGR was unacceptable and hurt public sentiments.
Nassar (Nadigar Sangam President): Released a video message stating he was personally hurt and requested Rajendra Prasad to offer a heartfelt apology to put the issue to rest.
Tamil Producer Keyaar: Dismissed the claim as a "figment of imagination," pointing out that MGR was in a completely different league of stardom and political influence.
